Here are the details in an email Paxton sent out:
Colleagues,
It has been my honour to serve as Minister MacKay’s Director of
Communications for the past three years and, prior to that, as a Press
Secretary to this office. I have been exceptionally fortunate to work
with Minister MacKay, as well as his team, in communicating on issues
affecting the Defence portfolio and, most importantly, the work of the
men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces. Many weeks ago, Minister
MacKay and I discussed my transition from public service in order to
seek out opportunities in the private sector. Minister MacKay requested
that I stay through to the end of the Parliamentary session. It has
been my pleasure to do so. My last day in this office will be June
28th.
I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Minister MacKay for
his leadership and commitment to Canada, his support and confidence, and
his friendship. It has been an exceptional experience and I know I will
miss it dearly. I thank my colleagues from Minister MacKay’s office,
the Prime Minister’s Office, other Minister’s offices, and the
Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces for their
close collaboration, advice and commitment to serving Canadians.
I’m very pleased to inform you that Minister MacKay has selected
Jennifer Gearey as his new Director of Communications. Jenn has worked
as a Public Affairs Officer at National Defence and was previously
employed as a Director of Communications at Treasury Board. She is a
former journalist and a former Conservative candidate in Gatineau.
Paloma Aguilar will continue to serve as Minister MacKay’s Press
Secretary. Both Jenn and Paloma are cc’d on this correspondence.
Thank you, Minister. Thank you, all.
And – Talk soon!
